What are the new river cruise ships for 2027?
Announced 2027 debuts include AmaWaterways’ AmaRudi, AmaFiora and AmaMaya; Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker; Emerald Lumi and Emerald Nova; Uniworld’s S.S. Audrey, S.S. Marlene and S.S. Is Celebrity really starting river cruises?
Yes. Celebrity River Cruises launches in 2027 with Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker on the Rhine and Danube, and Celebrity has said it has ordered ten river ships.
Which river is getting the most new ships?
Portugal’s Douro stands out for 2027, with four new ships announced: Emerald Nova, Scenic Aria, S.S. São Rafael and TUI Luzia.
Are there new river cruises in the United States?
Yes. Viking has a new 15-day Mississippi and Ohio journey for 2027, and American Cruise Lines continues to add modern riverboats, with American Anthem listed for 2027 and more riverboats for 2028.
What new river ships are coming in 2028?
Announced so far: Scenic Spirit II on the Mekong, American Cruise Lines riverboats including American Grace, and two more Century Cruises ships of the Century Diamond design. Viking is reported to be adding 18 river ships by 2028.
Should I wait for a new ship or book an existing one?

What happens if a new ship’s debut is delayed?
Lines typically offer a move to another sailing or ship, or a refund, sometimes with compensation. Policies vary, so ask before booking and consider travel insurance.
Can I book these ships through you?

Which new ships are going to the Mekong?
AmaWaterways’ AmaMaya in 2027, Riviera Travel’s first Asian ship Riviera Alba (timing reported differently by different sources), and Scenic Spirit II in early 2028.
Is there a new Amazon river cruise ship?
Yes. CroisiEurope’s 32-guest RV Brasilian Dream is due to begin Amazon sailings from Manaus in early 2027, with routes on the Rio Negro, the Tapajós and the upper Amazon to Tabatinga.
