New ships make headlines, but new itineraries change where you can actually go. These are the genuinely new routes announced for 2027 that we have been able to verify. Ship schedules and port orders can still change before sailing.
Europe
Celebrity on the Rhine and Danube
Celebrity’s first river program features seven-night sailings such as Basel to Amsterdam on the Rhine and Vienna–Budapest on the Danube, plus Christmas Markets sailings between Budapest and Nuremberg.
Emerald’s first Seine season
Emerald Lumi brings the line’s first-ever round-trip itineraries from Paris.
Douro newcomers
TUI Luzia sails a seven-night loop from Porto; Emerald Nova offers the 11-day Douro Highlights and 8-day Secrets of the Douro; Scenic Aria joins Scenic’s signature Douro routes.
Saga’s maiden season
Spirit of the Lorelei sails the Rhine, Main and Danube, including a Koblenz-to-Budapest voyage.
Tauck’s shorter “Essence” trips
Tauck has announced Essence of the Seine, Essence of the Danube and Essence of the Douro, with new ships ms Reverie on the Seine and ms Saudade on the Douro.
Three rivers of France
AmaWaterways and Smithsonian Journeys have announced a 15-day journey through the Seine, Saône and Rhône.
Venice and the Po
VIVA UNIQUE’s seven-night round trips from Venice call at lesser-known ports such as Burano, Mazzorbo and Chioggia.
Uniworld
Uniworld has said it is launching six new itineraries across Europe and Asia in 2027; details TBA.
Riviera Travel’s festive 2027
Riviera has opened seven festive 2027 sailings, including Christmas on the Rhine, Christmas on the Danube, New Year on the Danube and Magical Paris & Festive Seine. Its new Riviera Reflection joins the Danube in September 2027.
Amadeus Mira
Amadeus River Cruises’ new hybrid-electric ship sails Rhine, Main and Danube itineraries from spring 2027.
North America
Viking has announced Bayous, Blues & Bluegrass, a 15-day journey aboard Viking Mississippi from New Orleans to Louisville. It links the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, with stops including Baton Rouge, Natchez, Vicksburg, Memphis and Paducah.
American Cruise Lines continues to add modern riverboats, and has named the Great Lakes, the Arkansas River and national parks cruises among its newer markets.
Asia and South America
- Mekong: AmaWaterways’ new AmaMaya joins the river in 2027, and AmaWaterways with Smithsonian Journeys has announced a 17-day land-and-river program in Vietnam and Cambodia. Riviera Travel is entering Asia with Riviera Alba.
- Amazon: CroisiEurope’s RV Brasilian Dream offers three routes from Manaus — a Rio Negro round trip, a run to Santarém on the Tapajós, and a voyage to Tabatinga on the Colombian border.

Booking a New Itinerary
New itineraries often sell quickly, especially in their first season — Celebrity reported its initial river inventory was reserved within hours of priority booking opening. If a route appeals, ask early and ask how the line handles schedule changes.
